Health Care Town Hall Meeting

High emotions last night at a health care town hall meeting, hosted by Congresswoman Lois Capps.


The forum was moderated by Former Mayor Hal Conklin – and held at the United Methodist Church. The event was the first in a series of local live town hall meetings regarding America's Affordable Health Choice Act, and like hundreds around the country. The controversial healthcare legislation has undergone several significant changes as it has made its way through Congressional committees. Capps defended the current version as something that addresses everyone's needs. The City Fire Marshal was strict about the number of people admitted, allowing only 210 of the several hundred people who showed up. Shouts from an angry crowd of people denied entry continued through at least the first hour of the meeting. Tonight Capps will hold a meeting in San Luis Obispo at the San Luis Obispo United Methodist Church.
