First Thursdays in Santa Barbara
Well it’s time again for 1st Thursday tonight. 1st Thursday is an evening of art and culture in downtown Santa Barbara. Participating galleries and art-related venues offer free access to visual and performing art from 5-8 PM. Tonight ONLY; the Granada is offering a 50% discount on their next concert coming up Sept 12th. Also at 1st Thursday you'll enjoy surprises from Santa Barbara Symphony, Opera Santa Barbara, State Street Ballet and UCSB Arts & Lectures. And the State and A Bar and Grill will feature the abstract paintings of local artist and UCSB art student Kelly Wheeler. Again 1st Thursday kicks off at 5pm tonight. Jim Sirianni - It's ALL About ME!
Jim Sirianni is the resident Theatre Geek at News Talk AM 990 KTMS in Santa Barbara. He started at KTMS in 1999 as a part time producer. Currently, he produces and hosts his own entertainment show, A Round of Applause for KTMS – every Saturday at 5 PM. www.ktms.com He also anchors the news on KTMS and AM 1490 (www.sbprogressivetalk.com ) and provides Traffic and Weather updates on KTMS. Jim also fills in as news reporter for 99.9 KTYD, and K-LITE 101.7. (www.ktyd.com and www.klite.com ) He also assists with production for several other stations with Rincon Broadcasting LLC. Jim got his start in theatre by playing the role of Frosty the Snowman in the 2nd grade, shouting his first line ever – “Let’s Run!” And the rest as they say is history. Most recently Jim appeared in CBB’s The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940. He has directed Don’t Mention My Name, A.R. Gurney’s The Dining Room, Jake’s Women, Marriage is Murder, The Dinner Party, and Key For Two. He has been seen on the CBB stage in Relative Values, The Murder Room, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown (as Linus), and Move Over Mrs. Markham. His favorite role to date was playing Elwood P. Dowd in Harvey. Other Santa Barbara performances include Amadeus, Sweeney Todd, Pacific Overtures, Look Homeward Angel and A Midsummer's Night Dream.

Health Care Town Hall Meeting
High emotions last night at a health care town hall meeting, hosted by Congresswoman Lois Capps.
The forum was moderated by Former Mayor Hal Conklin – and held at the United Methodist Church. The event was the first in a series of local live town hall meetings regarding America's Affordable Health Choice Act, and like hundreds around the country. The controversial healthcare legislation has undergone several significant changes as it has made its way through Congressional committees. Capps defended the current version as something that addresses everyone's needs. The City Fire Marshal was strict about the number of people admitted, allowing only 210 of the several hundred people who showed up. Shouts from an angry crowd of people denied entry continued through at least the first hour of the meeting. Tonight Capps will hold a meeting in San Luis Obispo at the San Luis Obispo United Methodist Church.
